I don't like to think about sex. No, I don't like the thought of that. Yes, I'm OK with that. I would most likely try it if approached. I would definitely try it. Talk to them about sexuality. Be fine and not think about it. Treat them like it was nothing new. Be extremely uncomfortable around them. Ask them for advice. You: Accept them and say you reciprocate the feelings. Accept them and try out what it's like dating the same sex. Tell them you aren't like that. Accept them, but say you don't want a relationship. Ask them what it's like. I have a feeling that I might be gay. I'm really confused at the moment. I want to be sure I'm straight. My sexuality seems to be all over the place. I kissed someone of the same sex at a party and I keep thinking about it. Yes, I have developed confusing feelings for someone. Nothing ever happens.

Bush, but not in when he was running for reelection. Instead, Gallup asked about Bush in , when Democrats held the Senate, and after the elections. This period coincided with a broad expansion of the authority of the executive branch, as the Patriot Act as well as several executive orders significantly increased the influence of the presidency in unique ways. However, by late , as the Iraq War was dragging on and Americans voted to give control of both houses of Congress to the Democrats, they wanted to see the Democrats in Congress have more influence over the direction of the country than the president.

Preference Shadows Presidential Approval For Trump and his three immediate predecessors, Americans' preference for whether they want the president or the opposing party in Congress to wield more influence over the direction of the country seems to shadow that president's job approval rating. Presidents with relatively high approval ratings tended to win out over their legislative rivals in Americans' preference for who should be dominant. In fact, except for George W. Bush in , each president's approval rating is within two points of the percentage of Americans who would like to see that president have the greater influence. Demographic Distinctions As would be expected, Americans are most divided along party lines when asked whom they would like to see wield more influence in the coming year. Independents prefer to see the Democrats in Congress have the upper hand in influence over the course of the nation.

The movie itself is one such public action. It is simultaneously a presentation to the world at large about the lives of gay people and an affirmation, to gay people themselves, that there is a community out there with which they can identify. Many participants share detailed accounts of the terrifying consequences they suffered for being gay. Pat Bond discusses her military service during the McCarthy era, after the Second World War, where many lesbians found a community for the first time—and where a brutal crackdown, involving surveillance and coerced testimony, led to the dishonorable discharge of five hundred women serving in Tokyo. Rick Stokes describes being in a furtive same-sex relationship for many years with a neighbor, beginning when he was ten and the neighbor was twelve; when the ongoing relationship was disclosed to his wife, he was interned in a mental hospital, was threatened with castration, and endured shock treatment, he estimates, twenty-five times. Bond, the woman who served in the military, calls her very participation in the film an act of coming out, and worries about the professional consequences that she could face as a result—and that others in the film were risking, too.

Messaging: Clear constant messaging is vital from the top of your company. Make your messaging a newsletter or a personal email and make it weekly. Directs and employees want transparency, and they want to hear from you as often as possible. For example: How will they communicate real-time? Phone, vidcon, etc. How will they communicate asynchronously? Email, chat, text, etc. How will they think visually together? How will they share content? Meetings: Make all meeting types clear and whatever you were doing before Covid, double it; this will demonstrate the value you are putting on communication and connecting.

Homophobia is fear, anger, intolerance, resentment, or discomfort with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer people, often focused inwardly as one begins to question their own sexuality. Please note that transgendered is not acceptable term to use as it implies that something happened to the person to make them transgender. Queer is an umbrella term used proudly by some people to defy gender or sexual restrictions. Not used by all. Can be considered offensive. These dynamics are but a few examples of the privilege which straight people have. Sexual Orientation On a daily basis, as a straight person… I can go for months without being called straight. I am not asked to think about why I am straight. I am never asked to speak for everyone who is heterosexual. Nobody calls me straight as an insult. People do not assume I am experienced in sex or that I even have it! If I pick up a magazine, watch TV, or play music, I can be certain my sexual orientation will be represented. When I talk about my heterosexuality such as in a joke or talking about my relationships , I will not be accused of pushing my sexual orientation onto others. I do not have to fear that if my family or friends find out about my sexual orientation there will be economic, emotional, physical or psychological consequences. I can go home from most meetings, classes, and conversations without feeling excluded, fearful, attacked, isolated, outnumbered, unheard, held at a distance, stereotyped or feared because of my sexual orientation.

I can easily find a religious community that will not exclude me for being heterosexual. I can count on finding a therapist or doctor willing and able to talk about my sexuality. I am guaranteed to find sex education literature for couples with my sexual orientation. Because of my sexual orientation, I do not need to worry that people will harass or assault me. If my day, week, or year is going badly, I need not ask of each negative episode or situation whether it has sexual orientation overtones.

I am not told that my sexual orientation and gender identity are mutually exclusive. When I go to the gym or a public pool, I can use the showers. If I end up in the emergency room, I do not have to worry that my gender will keep me from receiving appropriate treatment nor will all of my medical issues be seen as a product of my gender. Must be due to the hormones! I am not required to undergo extensive psychological evaluation in order to receive basic medical care. People do not use me as a scapegoat for their own unresolved gender issues. How do you feel; what do you think about the questions and your answers?
